Alan Alexander Milne

Alan Alexander Milne was born in 1882 in London. He was schooled in his fathers school where one of his teachers was H.G. Wells, a writer of famous science-fictional novels. After elementary school he attended Westminister and then Cambridge.

After he finished school he got a job at a newspaper and stayed there until 1914. After that he went to the military and when the First World War started he was sent to France.

He got married in 1913 and after 7 years of trying his wife got pregnant. They couldn’t agree on the name so the boy was called Christopher Robin which didn’t make much difference since he gave himself the nickname Billy Moon.

Alan became a father pretty late and he was very mature. With time he started writing stories and poems for his son because he believed that every father would want to do it but they lack talent.

He wrote four book for children that are Winnie the Pooh, A gallery of Children, The house at Pooh corner’ and Short stories. Some of his other book are The secret and other stories, When we were young…

He was involved with the mentioned way of writing between 1924 and 1928. Then his son started growing up and his personality got different. Alan decided that he was done with writing for kids so he decided to dedicate his time to journalism, playwriting and novel writing. He died in 1965.
