"The Gospel of John" talks about Christ's life from the day he was born to the day he was crucified. His first miracles are also described.
Jesus as a boy
Matthew 3, 4; Mark 1; Luke 2,3,4; John 1
Every year Mary and Joseph went to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover and when Jesus turned 12 he went with them. When the celebration was over, everyone headed back to Nazareth by foot.
It was a custom amongst the people that they travel together to Jerusalem. While they were going back Mary and Joseph realized their son was missing. At first they weren't so worried because they thought he was with some friends but a day and a night went by without him returning so they went looking for him. They asked people if they've seen him, but nobody gave them any kind of information.
They decided to go back to Jerusalem to look for him. It took them a day to get there and a day to find him. Jesus was in the temple and he was talking to the teachers. They were amazed by a 12 years old knowledge.
Mary asked him why did he stay in the temple and told him they were worried for him, but Jesus was not aware of the fact that they didn't know anything about him staying in the temple. Mary started thinking and then everything became clearer. Jesus was the Son of God and it was normal for him to wish to stay in the house of his father.
Jesus went back to Nazareth with his parents where he had a lovely childhood. The next time his name was mentioned he was already 30. Nobody yet knew that he was God's son.
John the Baptist was living in the desert then. Him clothes was made out of camel's skin and it was tied with a belt around the waist. He fed with grasshoppers and wild bees.
John the Baptist started talking about Jesus. He encouraged people to admit their sins and beg for forgiveness. He became a prophet by the river Jordan. Many people came to listen to him and he told them that they are fooling themselves with the idea of salvation just because they are the descendants of Abraham.
Many who heard him speak admitted their sins and then Joseph baptized them in the river. Then Jesus appeared. He asked Joseph to baptize him and that confused Joseph. He told Jesus that he is supposed to baptize him and not the other was around. Jesus responded that it was necessary for Joseph to baptize him and Joseph accepted.
When Jesus came out of the river the Holy Spirit came from the sky in the shape of a dove and God spoke. After he was baptized Jesus went to the desert where he fast and prayed for 40 day. When he spent a few days there he became hungry.
Satan came and tested Jesus the way he tested Eva. He told him to turn stone into bread and feed himself. Jesus didn't fall under his influence. He told him it's better to starve that listen to Satan.
After that Satan took Jesus to Jerusalem. He told him to jump off of the temple because if he really is the son of God angels will come and save him. Jesus again stood his ground and quoted the Bible by saying that we are not supposed to expose ourselves to danger just to see if God will help us.
Satan gave it one last shot and he took Jesus to a mountain where he showed him the wealth of the cities. He promised Jesus everything under the condition that he bows down to him. Jesus resisted his influence again and told him that he only bows down to God.
Satan was sure that he won't be able to get Jesus of his way so he backed down. Jesus was assisted by angels then and they took care of him.
After that Jesus went back to the place where he was baptized and when Joseph saw him he called him the Lamb of God. He gave him that name because he decided to sacrifice himself for people just like lambs are sacrificed in the temple.
Two of Joseph's students decided to follow Jesus everywhere and after talking to them Jesus took them home. One of them, named Andrew, decided to take his brother Peter with him. The next day Jesus already had 5 students because Bartholomew and Philip decided to follow him.
The first miracle of Jesus
Mark 6; Joseph 2,3
One day Jesus attended a weeding and his students and mother accompanied him.
During the celebration of the weeding the host ran out of wine and back in the days that could have been taken as an insult for the guests. Mary told Jesus all about it hoping he'll do something about it and she ordered the servants to listen to him.
There were 6 big, stone jars that were used to store water. Jesus ordered the servants to fill them up with water and as they were carrying them to the table water turned to wine.
It was the first big miracle by Jesus Christ. When his students saw what he did they truly believed he was the son of God.
The talk with Nicodemus
Ivan 3
Nicodemus, a Jewish politician, came to talk to Jesus one night. He confessed how he believed that God did send Jesus because otherwise he wouldn't be able to do all of the miracles he had done.
Jesus told him that he can't become the child of God if he won't be born again. Nicodemus didn't understand Jesus so he had a million questions.
Jesus explained that it meant living how God wants us to live and pray to God to forgive us our sins and give us the eternal life.
Jesus told him in allegory that he will be crucified and that those who'll look at him and thank him for his sacrifice will be forgiven for their sins. In the end he told Nicodemus that God sent his son to die for people and purify them from their sins.
The Jews did their offering in the Jerusalem temple but they also had their churches called synagogues.
When Jesus came to Nazareth, his home town, he visited a synagogue. There he was asked to read a paragraph from the book of the prophet Isaiah. The paragraph was about the Savior who will come to the world.
When Jesus was finished he sat down and all eyes were on him. Then he stood up and started talking about himself being the Savior.
People were furious because they didn't believe him. They captured Jesus with the intention of throwing him off of a cliff.
Even though they held him tight Jesus just walked away and nobody could do anything about it. It was another miracle.
The sick boy's recovery
John 4
One day Jesus came to a city nearby Jacob's well. Jesus decided to get some rest next to the well and his students went to the city to get some food.
While Jesus was resting a woman appeared with an empty jug and she wanted to fill it with water. Jesus knew everything about her and he was sure that she was faithful to God.
While Jesus was talking to her he mentioned some of her life details with which God wasn't pleased. The woman believed he was a prophet and he told her that he is the Savior. She hurried back to the city and called everyone to come and see the Savior.
The people came to see him and asked Jesus to come to their town. He spent three days there and during those days everyone listened carefully to what Jesus had to say. They also believed he was the Savior.
After this visit Jesus headed back to the city where he turned water into wine. There he was approached by a wealthy man from another town and he asked him to cure his son. Jesus told him to go home because his son is already healthy.
When the man arrived home his son was indeed healthy. After he talked to his servants he realized that his son recovered right when he met Jesus. He and his whole family believed in Jesus.
The twelve students of Jesus Christ
Matthew 9; Mark 2,3; Luke 5,6; John 5
Jesus preached in another town and many people gathered around him. Amongst them there was a sick man who was carried by his friends. They couldn't carry him in through the front door so they moved apart roof tiles to carry him in over the roof.
When Jesus saw that he realized how big their faith was so he decided to forgive them their sins. The gathered crowd started to think why did Jesus let himself forgive sins like if he was God.
Jesus knew what they were thinking so he asked them why they had those sinful thoughts. He told the sick man to get up and go home. He did it immediately and the crowd was astonished.
Then the Jews had to pay taxes to the Romans and the people collecting the taxes were also Jews. They often took more that they should so they wouldhave some money for themselves.
One day Jesus walked down the street and saw that Matthew was collecting taxes. Jesus called him to join him and Matthew became his student.
Soon after, Jesus was in Jerusalem on a Jewish celebration. He was next to a fishpond and there were many ill people.
There he saw a man who was sick for 38 years and he had mercy upon him. All of the ill people were waiting for the water to rise because the first time who would get in would be cured.
The Jesus asked the man is he wants to get better to which he responded that he would love to be healthy but that there is nobody to take him into the fishpond. Jesus told him to get up and go because he was healthy.
He was carrying his rug on a Saturday and that was forbidden so he got in trouble with the Jewish leaders. He defended himself and told him that the man who cured him told him to walk away. They were curious about this man and he told them his name was Jesus.
From that moment on they were angry at Jesus and searched for any excuse to execute him.
Jesus kept on preaching about himself being the Son of God, that he has the power to revive the dead and that a time will come when the dead will rise, hear the voice of God. He told them that the ones who do good deeds will be rewarded unlike the ones that to bad things.
Another Saturday Jesus walked through wheat fields with his students. They were hungry so they ate the grains.
When the Jews saw what the students were doing they objected again because Saturday was a no-work day. Jesus told him that God sent him here so that he knew what is or isn't supposed to be done today.
On another Saturday Jesus visited a synagogue and when he arrived there he met a man whose hand was terrible. The leaders observed Jesus to see if he'll heal the man on a non-work day and he did.
Jesus headed to a lake with his students and the news about him spread fast amongst people. A lot of them just gathered around in hope they'll touch him because that was enough for them to heal.
Jesus went to the desert and spent the whole night there praying. The next day he called his students and picked twelve of them who will follow him everywhere and preach with him.
Their names were: Peter, Andrew, John, Jacob, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, James, Simon, Judas, Thaddaeus, Thomas.
The apostles get power to make miracles
Matthew 9-11, 14; Mark 6; Luke 9; John 6
Jesus sent his students to spread the joyous word around and he told him to do miracles on their way. He warned them that they'll cross paths with people that will try to stop them but that they should never back down. God will always guard them and their bodies.
God will also provide food and water for them so they are not supposed to carry anything with them. On the way God will now what is happening to them and that everyone who does something nice for them will be rewarded.
Jesus finished his teaching and the twelve students headed on to preach and do miracles.
When they came back they told Jesus everything that had happened on their way. They did not have a lot of peace and quiet to talk because people noticed Jesus and hurried to him so he would heal them and their ill family members and friends.
Night came and the apostles advised Jesus to send some men to get food but Jesus told them that he'll feed them. They only had 5 breads and 2 fishes.
The people came to get the food and no matter how many times the apostles tore the bread apart it was always whole so they fed the whole crowd.
The good shepherd
John 10
Jesus told his apostles that he was their shepherd and that they were his sheep. Then the shepherds used to walk in front of his sheep and take care of them 24/7.
Jesus went to the temple and there he met his Jewish enemies. They asked Jesus to declare himself as the Son of God and he responded that he declared himself a while ago, but that they didn't believe him. They weren't his sheep anymore.
They wanted to kill him by throwing stones at him but he managed to run away. He went to the river Jordan. People gathered around and listened to him preaching and they believed in him.
The death of Lazarus
John 11
Lazarus, the brother of Martha and Mary from Bethany, got ill and Jesus was called to help him. When Jesus heard what happened he did not rush to him because he stayed in Jerusalem for two more days.
After two days he told his students that they should go to Lazarus because he was already sleeping when in reality he was dead.
Lazarus sister Martha ran towards Jesus when she saw him. She told him that Lazarus would have died if Jesus was here. Mary rushed to Jesus and said the same thing. Jesus told them that Lazarus will come back to life.
Everyone gets sad and Jesus got a bit angry because they didn't believe him. Jesus asked where Lazarus is, and he was also crying a bit because he loved him a lot. They told him that his body was in a cave and Jesus asked them to remove the stone with which they sealed it.
Martha said that her brother was in there for four days and that his body is already decomposing. Jesus told her that she has to believe in him because then she will truly feel how big God's power is.
They removed the stone and Jesus told Lazarus to walk out and he did. He came back to life and Jesus ordered them to remove the sheet he was covered with.
Many believed in Jesus then and some of them told the story to his enemies. They were convinced that he was really capable of doing miracles and they were afraid for their own faith.
They were scared that Jesus will become the king which meant that the Romans could take their power. They started to think about a way to kill Jesus.
The First Palm Sunday
Matthew 21; Mark 11; Luke 19; John 12
There were six days till Passover and many people came to Jerusalem to celebrate it. Everyone wanted to be near Jesus. His enemies ordered everyone to tell them when they see Jesus so they could arrest him and kill him.
Six days before Passover Jesus went to Bethany where Lazarus lived. Many people came there after they heard about Lazarus. One of the priests ordered Lazarus's murder because he could make people believe in Jesus.
After Bethany, Jesus went to Jerusalem. He sent two of his students to go before him into the city. He told him to find a donkey that was tied up and bring him. He told him to tell anyone who asks them that the donkey is for the Lord.
The owner of the donkey let them take him. When they brought him to Jesus they placed some covers on him and Jesus sat on the donkey. He headed towards Jerusalem.
The crowd placed their clothes onto the ground and hey threw palm branches to make a path for Jesus. It was their way to show respect for the king.
There were those who would mock him and yell ironically that he was the king. Jesus knew those people would crucify him. As he was getting closer to Jerusalem he started crying because he remembered how bad the people were. He told his students that a great punishment will come upon that people. Their town will be torn apart and their houses will be crashed. All of that will be the punishment for their acts towards the Savoir.
After Jesus reached Jerusalem he went to the temple. He started to cure the ill. Young children started to come to Jesus and celebrate him.
That night Jesus slept in Bethany and the next day he went to Jerusalem. He was hungry and he reached towards a fig tree but there were no figs. He said that no fruit will ever come from that tree.
The day after that his students walked by the tree and realized it dried off.
The last supper
Matthew 26; Mark 14; Luke 22; John 13,14
It was Passover and the Israeli celebrated their liberation from Egypt. The Angle of Death spared the oldest man child in the house if the doors were marked with lamb blood so they brought offerings into the temple.
The students asked Jesus where are they supposed to bake and eat the lamb because Jesus didn't have a home in Jerusalem. Jesus told them to follow the man who'll carry a bucket of water. They were supposed to follow him and ask him to let them into the room he had prepared for them.
The students listened to him and everything that Jesus had said happened.
Jesus came to have supper with his students and that was very important for him because he knew it was his last supper before his conviction. He ate the lamb before he was sacrificed like a lamb for people.
Apostles couldn't understand that because they believed that Jesus will become the King. They even fought about which one of them will be the greatest. Jesus explained that the modest onewill be the greatest and the one that wants to be the greatest will be the servant.
Jesus asked them who was greatest for them, a servant that waits for his master to eat or a master that eats at the table. Jesus reminds them that he was their master and servant.
He took a towel and wrapped it around his waist and then he washed his student's legs. Peter didn't want him to wash his feet but Jesus promised that he will understand everything later. Peter still refused to let Jesus wash his feet but Jesus told him that he can't be his student if he doesn't let him do this. Peter than said that he should wash his whole body, but Jesus said that he is supposed to wash his feet.
He wanted to show them that they should always take care of each other. He also said that amongst them there is a traitor who will tell his enemies where Jesus is when there won't be anyone to protect him.
The students wanted to know who that person was and Jesus said it is the one he will hand bread to. He gave the bread to Judas. Satan entered his body than and Jesus told him to do what must be done. The students were confused.
Soon Judas went away and Jesus told his students to love one another the way he loved them. While they were having dinner Jesus gave them bread to eat. Also he took the wine and said it was his blood that will be spilled for all the sins.
He told him that they should meet after his departure and eat bread and drink wine. That will make them remember Jesus. He told him not to be sad because he will go to the heaven where he will set everything for their arrival and that one day he'll come back to take care of everyone who loves him. They Jesus prayed for the ones who will believe in him to save them from sin and make them love one another.
Jesus's arrestal
Matthew 26; Mark 14; Luke 22; John 18
Jesus went to pray by himself and prayed for a long time. He felt anxious because he knew he'll be crucified. An Angel came to encourage him.
Jesus told his students to pray all night so they'll have the courage to resist sin. When they came back they were sleeping. When he came back again he told them to get up because his traitor was on his way.
Judas knew where Jesus was an he told it to his enemies. They sent their men to arrest Jesus. Jesus told him he was the one they're looking for and he asked Judas to kiss him. After that the soldiers took him away. Jesus did not resist them because he knew that it was time.
The students took their swords out and Peter even cut one of the soldiers ear. Jesus told them to put the swords back because this has to be done. Then he healed the man's ear.
He asked the soldiers why they didn't arrest him when he was in the temple. The students went away and Jesus was taken. First he was taken to the priest and after that he talked to some officials.
Peter followed Jesus to see what will happen and he hoped no one will recognize him. He came to the temple and sat by the fire. When a woman asked him if he knew Jesus he just replied that he does not know who that man is. Then he heard the rooster.
The same thing happened two more time when Peter denied his friendship with Jesus. Then Peter remembered Jesus telling him that will happen. The last time when he denied he knew Jesus he was being taken away and their eyes met. Jesus was sad.
The priest asked Jesus about his students and his teaching and Jesus responded that none of his teaching was a secret. One of the guards slapped Jesus and Jesus told him that a man who speaks the truth shouldn't be hit.
Jesus is insulted and mocked at
Matthew 26; Mark 14; Luke 22; John 18
The next morning witnesses were brought to tell lies about Jesus. Their stories didn't match. Jesus was asked whether he was the Son of God to which he responded that he was and that will come back to Earth.
The priest started yelling that he deserves death and the gathered crowd starts to spit at him and call him names. Pontius Pilate was called and he was told that Jesus is convincing the Jews to stand up against the Romans. Pilate asked him if he really was the king to which Jesus responded that his kingdom isn't on Earth.
Pilate said he saw no guilt in Jesus but the crowd started yelling louder that Jesus caused mess from Galilee to Jerusalem.
When Pilate heard them talking about Galilee he sent Jesus to the Galilee administrator. The administrator wanted Jesus to make a miracle for him but Jesus didn't even respond to his questions. Then they started mocking him again and they placed a red cloak on him because he claimed to be the king. He was sent back to Pilate again who still didn't think that Jesus should be killed.
It was a custom that during Passover one prisoner was released that was sentenced to death. Pilate asked the people if he should let go a prisoner or Jesus and everyone shouted to crucify Jesus.
Pilate didn't know what is he supposed to do especially after he received a letter from his wife saying she si having nightmares and that he shouldn't crucify Jesus. Pilate had to do something.
Pilate took water and washed his hand. He wanted to wash of the guilt for anything that was supposed to happen to Jesus. He told the people that he does not want to be the one to blame for the death on an innocent man but he never washed off the guilt.
Jesus was whipped and hit, tied up and a thorn crown was placed upon his head as a sign that he was the King.
Jesus's death
Matthew 27; Mark 15; Luke 23; John 18, 19
Pilate was still hoping that Jesus will survive. He asked Jesus where was he born but he didn't get an answer. He got furious because of that and then Jesus told him he is only supposed to do what god tells him. Pilate was then even more convinced that he should let him live.
The gathered crowd started yelling and Pilategot scared that he'll lose his place if he does not back down. He let the crucify Jesus.
Judas repented for his sins and he returned the money he got for saying where Jesus was. The guards told him they don't care about that and then he threw the money onto the ground of the temple and hung himself.
The guards clothed Jesus into his clothes and made him carry his own cross to the hill where he will be crucified. He couldn't carry it anymore and he was stumbling so they asked a man to help him. The hill was named Calvary.
When they arrived they nailed Jesus's hand and feet to the cross and even though he was in pain Jesus asked God to forgive them for their sins. After that they gave him something to drink that was supposed to ease the pain. Jesus refused to drink it because it was his choice to die for people.
Two criminals were crucified along side of him. Jesus was crucified in the morning and he was there until noon. When people walked by his cross they told him to get down if he really is the Son of God.
One of the criminals told him to save them if he really is the Son of God and the other one told him to remember them when he arrives to his kingdom. Jesus told him that he'll be in Paradise with him today. Jesus forgave him his sins.
Mary and John were standing by his cross and Jesus asked him to take care of Mary so he treated her like she was his mother. From twelve to two, darkness came upon Earth. God sent it because they were killing his son. At three he asked God why did he leave him. One man gave Jesus a sponge soaked in vinegar and Jesus then said it was over.
The ground shook and the curtain in front of the temple tore itself. When the people saw what happened they realized he was really the Son of God.
Jesus's resurrection
Matthew 27, 28; Mark 15, 16; Luke 23, 24; John 19, 20
The next day was Saturday so they tried to get the bodies off of the crosses as soon as possible. They wanted to break their bones to speed up their deaths but then they saw that Jesus was dead and they pierced him with a spear. One of the criminals was still alive so they started breaking his bones.
Next to the place where Jesus was crucified James had a cave but nobody knew he was actually one of Jesus's students. He asked Pilate to take Jesus and put him into the cave that will be his grave.
Guards guarded the grave because it was believed that Jesus will rise again in three days. They were scared that the apostles will come, take Jesus out of the grave and say he resurrected.
An Angel came and unsealed his grave. The guards ran away in fear.
The next day Mary and Mary Magdalene came to the grave and then she found an Angel there. He told him that Jesus was alive and that they should tell his students he'll meet them in Galilee.
While they were looking for the students they saw Jesus and hugged his legs out of joy.
When the students found out they headed to the grave and they were convinced that Jesus resurrected. They saw an empty grave any nothing else.
The guards said what really happened but they were ordered to say that they fell asleep on duty and that the apostles stole the body. They were even paid to lie and they did it.
